What do former pro football players do once their careers are over? The rise of the medical marijuana industry in Colorado provides a possible answer owing to one simple fact: A helluva lot of athletes love weed.
Unfortunately, though, there can still be complications — like the ones currently embroiling ex-Broncos running back Reuben Droughns, who’s reportedly under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration for operating a marijuana grow in his Centennial home.
According to Channel 31’s Julie Hayden, who got the scoop on the story, Droughns is claiming a medical marijuana defense.
Although Droughns was unable to show agents a medical marijuana license, his mother and brother did.
Hayden notes that Droughns was not under arrest as of last night — and there’s a good chance he’ll skate given the current confusion over medical marijuana laws in the state, as documented in blogs like this one and this one.
Besides, now that he’s out of the NFL (he was released by his last team, the New York Giants, in February 2009), what do you expect him to do? Not smoke pot?

Whut The FCUK?! I read this on his blog yesterday where he’s crying about the pressures of “stardowm”. How can this dude change the world? what song did he make that changed someone’s life?! Day N Nite? what’s the message in that?! HYPE got to that boy head. When did it become call to cry about pressure when you just started?! One single, one mixtape, tons of interent hype, and now you wanna quit?! Last time I checked, you had to be on a job for so many years before RETIREMENT was an option. When you quit a job, that’s all your doing… QUITTING! Loosen up your jeans and be a man. Only rapper who could have retired was Jay-Z, after that didnt last, no one has a pass to scream retirement. Just say you aint built for the game and you quitting. But dont throw around the word retirement… wack rappers throw that shit around almost as much as SWAG. There are easier ways to get attention… try making another hit song… just a suggestion.
I was actually a fan of Dennis Miller’s comedy, but as a person i dont really agree with him. I hate, and I mean HATE when people who aren’t Hip Hop fell like they can still comment on Hip Hop. An OPINION is one thing, but to critisize something you dont truely understand and call it ignorant offends me… which is pretty hard to do! Shout out to Love in DC where the footage was shoot once again!!! Jay-Z and Young Jeezy are entertainers, and the opinions and songs they express and perform are they’re own. For Dennis Miller and Ole’ Billy Boy to take their words as gospel, disappoints me, to say the least! And not only that, they’re already going at Obama. The Bill Ayers talk still isnt old to them? Sad. Barack Obama is not a terrorist, he’s a politian!!! He’s going to make decisions that everyone wont like! BUT he will make the decision that he feels is best for the USA as a whole!!! Decisions like the budget for the “War” or Health Care!!! He’s not MLK Jr., he’s a politian! He’s not a Black President, he’s a President that is BLACK!!! Big difference!!!! Think about that.
Not bad actually. It takes a real man to admit his love for Cyndi, but it takes an even bigger man to sing her songs out loud. Good times. Oh and there’s also something in the ads that involves a mini double decker bus driving around, but I guess we won’t know what that’s all about until the spots debut on December 25th.
